Visiting Faculty

Visiting Academic Sabbatical/Faculty Summer Residency

Visiting sabbatical faculty are invited during the academic year (one or two semesters) or for a summer residency. The summer residency can include a combination of helping (1) advise a fellow and/or (2) work on a research problem within our NSF Healthcare Systems Engineering center or independently. Primary responsibilities are to manage day to day operational, project management, growth and visibility, relationship management and member cultivation, and meeting and reporting aspects of the HSyE center Institute and associated research centers and projects. Research Coordinator (part time)

Primary responsibilities are to manage day to day operational, project management, growth and visibility, relationship management and member cultivation, and meeting and reporting aspects of the HSyE Institute and associated research centers and projects. This individual will work independently with guidance and oversight from HSyE management and will report to the HSyE Institute director. Master's degree preferred, bachelors required in industrial engineering, project management familiarity, and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. Prior experience working in healthcare and/or academic workplaces is preferred but not required.

Post-Doctoral Researchers

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Talented and motivated post-doctoral fellows with a strong background in statistics, operations research, and industrial engineering are encouraged to contact us. Post-doctoral positions are available throughout the year. All postdoc fellows participate in a structured mentoring and career development fellowship program to help advance their careers, including some combination of research, teaching, mentoring, and application components, along with a schedule of faculty mentoring. VA Healthcare Systems Engineering Fellows

Healthcare systems engineering post-masters and post-doctoral fellowships provides recent engineering graduates mentored research experiences and training to launch independent research careers in the growing field of healthcare systems engineering, in partnership with the VA healthcare system (the largest healthcare system in the U.S. Fellowships last one year for master’s level fellows and two years for fellows with PhDs. Applicants must have a US citizenship due to federal employment rules. Visa sponsorship is not available for this program. Preference will be given to candidates with industrial or systems engineering backgrounds. Graduate research assistant in the Healthcare Systems Engineering Institute. Job responsibilities include assisting with one of more healthcare industrial engineering applied or research projects in our institute, working collaboratively with other students and reporting the Institute director. Examples of past projects and methods include literature review, data analysis, process observation, flow mapping, six sigma, predictive modeling, computer simulation, and linear programming. Web site skills also are desirable for one of our several openings. Federal work study eligible but not required. Renewable for future semesters. The AJC Merit Research Scholarship provides academically excellent undergraduates with the opportunity to participate in a full-time, research co-op in the lab of a tenured or tenure-track Northeastern University faculty member in the STEM fields – at a wage comparable to what they might earn in industry. Summer Internship (Non-Northeastern Student)

Northeastern Healthcare IE Summer Internship program, sponsored in part by our CMS Healthcare Systems Engineering Center. The objective of this program is to allow interested students an opportunity to gain experience working in healthcare, discover important research topics, and/or test their current research. This program is open to early undergraduate students through advanced PhD students and can last from 1 to 3 months.
